Living in an area densely populated by students, around this time of year when students pack up and head home there appears to be an increased amount of waste and fly tipping. Abandoned duvets and paper, which when left become sodden and wet would appear to be a common issue (see photographs).
Could there be a scheme to provide resources to students to dispose of their unwanted belongings that does not result in it ending up in the back streets, which would appear to then attract vermin? I have had a problem with rats in my home that has coincided with this upsurge in waste in my rear alley and it occurred around the same point last year.
I do not know personally how this is already being managed and I would love to know how residents believe this can be reduced and what is in place already to manage this upsurge in waste tipping by the council?
Is it around better education for people on how to dispose of their waste come the end of the university year when it would appear that fly tipping increases? Would welcome thoughts from others and how other areas of the UK and other countries manage this?
